What could be more "GA" floating on a puppy? One of the local serene to madness at the annual Oshkosh EAA Fly-In is the seaplane base in the area ... where all types of aircraft will be water in the waters of Lake Winnebago. Tucked between McClarin Reinke and inlets in a bay hot off the coast of Lake Winnebago, there is the EAA AirVenture Seaplane Base. Founded as a center for water-based aviation visitors in 1973, remains the basis for one of itspopular retreat from the hustle and bustle of Wittman Field. Get off at the most idyllic of birds on the lake is nothing more than the stereotypical GA aircraft ... the legendary Piper Cub ... on carts, of course. Ann Holt, the owner of this vision, Crystal Lake, MN, Mayor Pat McKinzie who also teaches aviation at Minnesota State University-Mankato. His 1945 Piper Cub built sits on a pair of EDO 1320 floats in 1946. McKinzie came to Oshkosh to give racing since 1998 andHe admits that he never sees more seaplanes (simultaneously) when in Oshkosh every year. The Seaplane Pilots Association (SPA) is the most important item for fans of seaplane since its inception in 1971. With over 8000 members, APS serves the interest, support, and represent a commitment for seaplane pilots and fans around the world.
